At Legacy Volleyball Club (LVC), we strive to create an environment where young athletes can thrive through positive training and competition. This Parent Code of Conduct outlines the standards and expectations for parent behavior in support of our athletes, coaches, and organization. By following these principles, we can work together to provide a healthy and respectful experience for all participants.
Please review each section carefully, and sign at the end to confirm your understanding of, and agreement to, these expectations.
As a Parent of an LVC Athlete:
General Support
- I understand that youth sports exist for the benefit of the athletes, not for the entertainment or personal interest of parents, coaches, officials, or other adults.
- I will support the coaching staff and respect their decisions, even when I may personally disagree.
- I will respect the decisions made by the Program Director and LVC staff, and trust that they are made in the best interest of the athletes, the team and the organization.
- I acknowledge and support the mission, vision, and values of LVC, including the role that Christian principles play in shaping its approach to training and programming.
Competition & Practice
- I understand that playing time is determined by the coaching staff and is not guaranteed to be equal among all athletes.
- I will focus my role at games and practices on supporting and encouraging the team, and I will not provide instruction or coaching from the sidelines.
- I will maintain composure during competition and understand that my behavior reflects directly on LVC and its reputation.
- I will demonstrate respect toward everyone involved — including players, coaches, officials, and fellow spectators — regardless of the outcome of a game. This includes my conduct online and on social media.
- I will respect the authority of game officials and scoring personnel and will not engage with them during competitions.
- I will ensure my child arrives on time for training, practices, and competitions, and I will pick up my child promptly after practice.
- If I remain onsite during my child’s practice, I will not interfere with programming activities, I will stay in the designated spectator areas, and I will ensure any young siblings with me are supervised.
Communication
- I will follow the LVC Communication Policy to resolve any concerns or questions regarding my child.
- I will not approach a coach during a competitive event. Instead, I will wait until the following Monday to initiate respectful communication, ensuring I manage my emotions and assume positive intent.
LVC Communication Policy
The athlete is included at every stage of this process to ensure their perspective is heard and to help build personal responsibility and conflict-resolution skills.
- Speak with your child first to fully understand their perspective and determine whether the concern is yours or your child’s.
- Review the applicable LVC policies and procedures.
- If a concern remains, follow the steps below. (If Step 1 resolves the issue, the remaining steps are not necessary.)
Step 1: Instruct your child to raise the concern directly with their coach.
Step 2: You and your child meet with the coach together.
Step 3: You and your child meet with the coach and the Program Director.
Infractions
I understand that failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct may result in the following actions against me, at LVC’s sole discretion:
- First offense: Suspension from attending the next tournament.
- Second offense, or failure to comply with the first consequence: Prohibited from attending any further tournaments or practices and barred from direct communication with the coaching staff for the remainder of the season.
- Third offense, or continued noncompliance: Removal of my child from the team without refund.
I also understand that serious violations may result in immediate suspension from all LVC events or dismissal from the program, at LVC’s sole discretion, without additional process.
Miscellaneous I agree to keep my account current and make timely payments as outlined in the season schedule. I understand that nonpayment may affect my child’s eligibility to participate.
Acknowledgment
I agree to comply with this LVC Parent Code of Conduct and understand the consequences for failing to do so. I further agree to waive any right to legal action against LVC, its employees, directors, officers, contractors, agents, or volunteers related to the enforcement of this Code of Conduct.
